Week 1 (M) : Big Show for the LSHL Men’s Opener: Goals, Smiles, and Some Questionable Doodles

It didn’t take long for the energy to ramp up at the first men’s night of the Living Sisu Hockey League (LSHL). The place was packed — stands, boards, even the bistro — every corner was buzzing!

Colorful Warm-Up

Before puck drop, Nicolas Aubé-Kubel was already stirring things up, teasing hosts André Roy, Steve Bégin, and Éric Bélanger with some... let’s say creative drawings on the glass. Meanwhile, Vincent Desharnais, proud captain of Be Healthy Love Berry, showed off his brand-new San Jose Sharks gear, flashing winks and smiles at fans.

A High-Energy Game with a Laid-Back Vibe

From the first shift, the intensity was on. Raphaël Lavoie, recently signed by the Vegas Golden Knights on a one-year, two-way deal, opened the scoring with the first men’s goal of the 2025 season.

Also catching attention: Makar Khanin, a 7th-round pick by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2024 draft, who’s in town for development camp. The young forward didn’t take long to make an impression.

Teasing, Brotherly Chemistry & Young Guns on Fire

A funny moment came when a shot from Maveric Lamoureux flew just inches from the hosts’ booth — André Roylooked ready to throw down like it was the early 2000s all over again.

After the game, Aubé-Kubel described the vibe as "loose but competitive," saying how great it feels to play in front of fans in such a fun and relaxed format.

On the ice, the Joseph brothers were in sync for Team Rénobrio, linking up for some slick offensive plays. And on Accent Insurance Solutions, the young trio of Joshua Roy, Elliot Desnoyers, and Zachary Robidas stood out with their speed and creativity.
