It was another sold-out Tuesday night at the Centre Hockey Etcetera, where the Living Sisu Hockey League delivered yet another high-caliber summer showcase. With André Roy, Steve Bégin and Éric Bélanger on hosting duties, the atmosphere was exactly what fans have come to expect from the LSHL: lively, welcoming, and all about the love of the game.
Rénobrio takes control in a thrilling showdown
The first matchup of the evening saw Rénobrio face off against Manmade, and the game lived up to the hype. Rénobrio quickly took command, led by the unstoppable Joseph brothers — Mathieu and P-O — who dominated every shift. Alongside them, Pierre-Luc Dubois brought the full weight of his NHL experience, fresh off a career-high 66-point season with the Capitals, thriving in the fast-paced 3-on-3 format.
But the highlight of the night came from a young gun — and what a moment it was. Nineteen-year-old Sacha Boisvert lit up the rink with a dazzling goal assist in the second half, leaving even P-O Joseph stunned, hands on his head in disbelief. Drafted 18th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2024, Boisvert is clearly living up to the hype. After a standout rookie season at the University of North Dakota (32 points in 37 games), he’s set to join Boston University this fall — the same program where Lane Hutson made waves not long ago.
On the Manmade side, the effort was there. Thomas Bordeleau, recently traded to the New Jersey Devils, returned from a two-week European trip. “A little rusty,” he admitted in a post-game interview with André Roy, but happy to be back in “a relaxed place where you can still play high-level hockey in the off-season.” Goaltender Franky Lapenna (University of Ottawa, former QMJHL) kept Manmade in the game with several clutch saves. Meanwhile, Simon Benoit and Nikolas Brouillard brought some levity, joking with each other during warm-ups.
Final score: Rénobrio 10 – Manmade 7
Tight battle between Be Healthy Love Berry and Accent Assurances
The second game of the night featured Be Healthy Love Berry and Accent Assurances, in what turned out to be the closest game of the season so far.
Accent Assurances welcomed defenseman Alexandre Carrier for his first game, joining the well-oiled Montreal trio of Carrier-Dauphin-Roy. In net, LSHL co-founder Zach Fucale stood tall — especially in the dying moments when BHLB pulled their goalie for a final 4-on-3 push. Fucale sits atop the goaltending stats with an unmatched goals-against average of just five.
Be Healthy Love Berry had a new NHL face of their own: Anthony Beauvillier, now with the Washington Capitals. Despite a strong offensive push, the squad couldn't find a way past Fucale one last time.
In a post-game interview, Alexandre Carrier summed up the spirit of the league: “It’s a great time — we’re playing for a good cause, the atmosphere is competitive, and there’s a real connection with the fans. That said, it’s really in the final two games of the summer that the guys start to dial it up. For now, the vibe is still more laid-back.” After the game, Carrier stuck around to sign autographs and take photos with fans.
Final score: Accent Assurances 6 – Be Healthy Love Berry 5
